Bernard Pierce Named Freshman All-American
Owls to Play in EagleBank Bowl on Dec. 29
PHILADELPHIA (12/8/09) – Temple running back Bernard Pierce ( Ardmore, Pa.) has been named to the 2009 CollegeFootballNews.com Freshman All-America Team.
A second-team Freshman All-America honoree, Pierce is the 2009 MAC Freshman of the Year and a first-team All-MAC selection. Heset the freshman records for yards (1,308), touchdowns (15), and 100-yard rushing games (6). He needs just one touchdown to set Temple’s single-season records for TDs and points scored.
Pierce earned MAC Offensive Player of the Week honors three times during the season, the most in school history, as well as National Performer of the Week twice. He also earned Helmet Stickers from ESPN.com.
Temple (9-3, 7-1 MAC) will play in the EagleBank Bowl on Dec. 29 at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C.

Toledo WR, Eric Page named to CollegeFootballNews.com Freshman All-American Team
WR Eric Page, Toledo – C’mon, was this Rocket really playing quarterback and returning kicks in high school last year? He sure looked like a veteran wide receiver in Toledo, leading the nation’s freshmen with 82 receptions for 1,159 yards and seven touchdowns, and hauling in more than 10 passes in a game three times.
