Notes: The Eagles play next two consecutive road games against Big Ten opponents at Purdue and at Michigan State...Eagles could not overcome three interceptions, two lost fumbles and nine penalties in the 31-14 loss to Illinois State in the home opener...Eastern Michigan offense gained 103 rushing yards on 32 attempts...QB Alex Gillett led the team in rushing yards (49) and passing yards (149). Won the opener 48-6 over Eastern Kentucky and then lost a 20-17 decision at Notre Dame...QBs Caleb TerBush (8-19 passing for 79 yards) and Robert Marve (11-18 passing for 119 yards) both threw a touchdown pass at Notre
Dame...Defense limited Irish to only 54 net yards rushing...Purdue scored in all three red zone attempts at Notre Dame--two touchdowns and one field goal.
Nick’s Pick: Purdue 42 – Eastern 17
Comment: The Eagles were totally outplayed by Illinois State last week and there is no reason to think they will compete very long against a mid-level Big Ten team.
Western Michigan at Minnesota
Saturday, September 15, 2012 • Noon ET • Minneapolis, Minn. • TCF Bank Stadium (50,000)
Big Ten Network; Series: Minnesota leads 3-0

Wilson had 154 yards and two TDs vs. Eastern Illinois and is the first freshman receiver to have over 100 yards in a game since Steve Neal had 124 yards in 1997...After road game at Minnesota will play next three at home. Minnesota begins the year with a 2-0 record with a 30-27 OT win at UNLV and 44-7 win over New Hampshire...With the victory over New Hampshire,
Minnesota snapped a two-game losing streak versus NCAA Division I FCS opponents...The Gophers had dropped games to North Dakota State during 2011 and South Dakota during 2010.
Nick’s Pick: Western 31 – Minnesota 27
Comment: The Broncos looked dreadful at Illinois two weeks ago and should rebound against a low-level Big Ten team. Probably the most difficult game to pick this weekend.

Nick’s Pick: Akron 41 – Morgan State 31
Comment: The Zips should have won last week at FIU, look for Bowden’s boys to notch their first win of the new regime.
Miami at Boise State

Boise State forced four turnovers but failed to score an offensive touchdown and saw its fourth-quarter lead slip away in a 17-13 loss at No. 13 Michigan State...QB Joe Southwick was 15-of-31 for 169 yards in his first-career start...WR Kirby Moore had six catches for 52 yards...Southwick was also the Broncos’ leading rusher with 18 yards.
Nick’s Pick: Boise State 55 – Miami 14
Comment: Miami has not looked good this season and Boise State is well rested from their long lay over loss from Michigan State; this one may get ugly.
Ohio at Marshall
Saturday, September 15, 2012 • 6:30 pm ET • Huntington, W.V. • Joan C. Edwards Stadium (38,019); Series: Ohio leads 30-19-6

Marshall opened with a 69-34 loss to West Virginia and followed with a 52-24 win over Western Carolina... Marshall totaled 615 yards of total offense after putting up 545 yards at West Virginia...It was the most yards in a game since 604 yards against Kent State on Oct. 11, 2003.
Nick’s Pick: Ohio 44 – Marshall 36
Comment: OU thumped the Herd last year and that won’t happen again this year…OU is the better team though and will win a very entertaining and physical contest.
Bowling Green at Toledo

Nick’s Pick: Indiana 27 – Ball State 23
Comment: This is a game the Cardinals can win although it’s starting to look like Kevin Wilson’s Hoosiers are turning the corner and becoming a respectable BCS team after years of underachieving.
